STATEMENT OF INTENT
For my final project I have chosen to do Framing because I think this is an interesting topic and I would like to focus towards zooming in onto an images to show detail . I also think that framing could be represented by simply the way I capture a photograph the way I have angled my camera and how the final photograph appears. The reason I have also chosen this idea is because I want to explore different types of photography as my last two projects were Texture and Portraits. I enjoyed both these projects but I think Framing will give me quite a wide scope for ideas. I really want to be a lot more creative and I have improved my skills in photography since the last project.
I will make sure my work will be to a high standard and very meaningful. I will aim to explore a lot more different camera techniques and studio set up, such as using different lenses. These techniques will help me improve the skills I have already learnt and will be shown through my portfolio(Weebly). I plan to show different framing ideas throughout my galleries, starting off with picture frames and then I hope to go out on location to capture natural framing forms and man made frames.
I plan to make good quality edited photos of each framing option using photoshop and then evaluate as I go along this will help me refine my work allowing me to create work that can be the best , I will make sure to research different camera methods that will lead to strong outcomes.
I will use research on photographers to inspire my own work but I will also make sure that I have my own ideas, I want to have my own unique photos. I plan to research three framing photographers, for example, Bob Martin, whose work are based on sports. I really like how he uses his camera as it really shows a lot of compositional skills. I also plan to research Alex Webb who takes framing shots outside and on the streets. I will use this style to link it to my work as I will go to different places around Greater Manchester and I will take a series of photos. Some places I have in mind for locations are the bridge at Media City or the statues at Trafford Centre and Deansgate locks.
I want my work to be experimental and resourceful ,I will use Photoshop for my editing and watch tutorial videos on YouTube so I am able to gain a lot more knowledge to get a really high standard final gallery.

Mood Board
Framing Landmarks
Framing Portraits
Framing Black and White
The reason I have chosen these photos for my mood board is because they show really good framing and different skills used in each gallery for example texture or black and white patterns and its impressive how it zooms into the photo and gives a clear focus. I will use the inspiration to make links with the photos to my mood board so they flow.

Research On Bob Martin
Context
Bob Martian is a multi-award-winning sports photographer, who specializes in shooting action pictures for advertising, corporate and editorial clients. Martian has photographed major sporting events world wide from last fourteen summer winter Olympic Games to elephant polo and horse racing on ice.
Composition
Bob Martin tends to use quite a few techniques in his photography including place points of interest on intersections, he uses manual focus so he can get a full detail on the player. He uses natural lines that attract the eye into the picture. The first photograph with the man coming out of the water to me he has filled the frame my using the water splashes that go from corner to corner, the mans eye are closed but are center on the image making the facial expressions dominant to the viewers eye.
He used a Sony Alpha 7r which he always calls the best experience he has had with a camera. He decided to take photos in the Paralympics and to really show how difficult and hard sports can be. He frames the faces of the sports people as he captures their facial expressions to help display their emotions.
I love how he has tightly cropped the water splashes and the face. It really makes it stand out and it is appealing to me as the detail of the movement of the skin can be seen. By doing this he has captured the different textures of the water mud and skin an it is present in the photograph. He has used the sweet spot for the man's face. I feel he is trying to show various things throughout the photo even though the background is slight blur we can see it is tree trunks as you can see the brown colour of the wood which has been highlighted my the natural light of the sun.
Bob Martin tends to use natural light and an ISO of around 600 to capture that perfect lighting in his images. I feel this is how we get that balanced effect of the textures present which are reflecting off the light and also giving a really clean look to the water splashes. We can see the middle ground but not much background I feel this is what makes the photograph powerful. He has created the photo and has captured a nice tight crop to outstand the patterns of the photo. Bob has used in my opinion a F-stop 11 or 14 and a lens pf 50m also a shutter speed which looks to be fast because he has captured the splashes mid air which is not easy or maybe not even possible with a low shutter speed.

Connections
Bob really tends to use sports to show the struggles of a player. In some photos we can see the pain for victory however in some we see the joy of getting the win. He quoted "I try to make my images as graphic as I can. It's every sports photographer's job to capture the right moments, but you still need to be conscious of composition.
I think that is the one of the things that helps my work to stand out - I try to combine getting the right moment with making a really graphic image". He try's to tell us that any moment captured can be special and it should be kept. I would like to use Bobs techniques of his camera skills for my work. Especially because I'm doing framing I need o make sue that I get the best focus of the objects and main person or landmark. I will not be following the theme of sports however the techniques I can relate to.

COMMENT
The reason I like Bob Martins work is because it really has special meaning behind it. He try's to show through photos the emotions of people when playing sports. The second image I have used as I feel it is a really outstanding photo taken by him was he took a below photo of someone jumping and we could see the outer layer of the stadium. It was a really good way of framing. Overall the reason I have chosen Bob Martin as one of my chosen photographers is because of his wide use of camera and editing skills. I would love to use inspiration from his work to help my own project and help create a good strong final gallery.
Alex Webb
Context
Alex Webb is best known for his complex and vibrant color photographs of serendipitous or enigmatic moments, often in places with socio-political tensions. His most recent books include La Calle: Photographs from Mexico and the collaboration Slant Rhymes with Rebecca - 5 May 1952 (age 69 years)
COMPOSITION
Alex Webb uses very complicated camera skills for example trying to show a message through a photo or trying to get loads of vibrant colors. Alex Webb uses a variety of techniques in his photography work including leading lines which use the natural light to look at the kids in the frame of the rainbow, he uses framing to show a shop. He uses buildings around him as a framing tool. Fill the Frame and he also uses the repetition of form . He used a Leica M Rangefinder with 35mm Lens, He has used each 28mm and 50mm earlier than, but unearths 35mm to be the perfect suit and stability among the two. He also used the most effective Kodachrome shade movie for 30 years, up until it changed and discontinued. I love how he has done a firm tight crop on the frame so we can get a clear shot of the rainbow giving off all the amazing colours and the still shot of the rain falling down. This way we can really see the effort put into this masterpiece. He has used the capture the action trick to show day to day life through vivid colours and shows the emotions through the photos. Alex Webb's snap shots generally encompass several planes of awareness and action. The foreground, middle-ground and historical past all contain their personal factors of awareness. Webb knows how to carefully arrange every layer of the photograph that allows you to guide your eye from the front to the back.
CONNECTIONS
Alex decides to show beautiful colours and displays to us that you can make ordinary photos look really good if you take them properly. This inspires me to take photos of unique things which have vibrant colours like rainbows and going to parks and taking reflections of the sun etc. I want to show the emotions of peoples day to day life through my photos of framing. I would like to do the same using a DSLR camera to take portraits of something that's related to Alex Webb's photography. I will follow the theme of repetition of frames and using bright colours. I like the way the frames have been shot and cut out for that sweet touch to the main focus of the photo. I love the theme of socio-political places. Over the past forty five years, Webb has worked in numerous locations in the U.S.-Mexico border, Haiti, Istanbul, and, most recently, a number of U.S. cities. His paintings are wandering and exploratory. His images bring a positive stage of ambiguity in place of providing solutions.
COMMENT
I like Alex’s work because it shows a lot of transitions throughout his photography he went from black and white to colours. Also he used patience to get the best outcome possible and show a lot in his framing. He is very inspiring and has a very good way to show his framing through people having fun. He is quite creative and enigmatic. What's even better is that he has obtained several awards and grants which includes a Hasselblad basis furnish in 1998, a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2007, a countrywide Endowment for the humanities Fellowship in 1990, and the Leica Medal of Excellence in 2000. I can't wait to do photography related to his unique framing skills . Its a amazing piece of art which looks so basic but gives out many emotions, colours and looks but looks so basic.
Christopher Anderson
CONTEXT
Christopher Anderson first won recognition for his images in 1999 whilst he boarded a small wood boat with Haitian refugees looking to sail to the us. The boat, named the "trust in God", sank in the Caribbean. In 2000 the photographs from that adventure received the Robert Capa Gold Medal. Anderson's early paintings from war zones consisting of Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Israel/ Palestine earned international acclaim and awards consisting of two international Press photograph Awards and magazine Photographer of the year.In 2004, Anderson began touring to Venezuela to report the united states of America beneath the presidency of Hugo Chávez. The resulting eBook, Capitola (RM 2009) become named one of the best photographic books of 2010 on the Kassel eBook pageant in Germany. In 2011, Anderson made Capitola into an app for iPhone and iPad, the first photographic book to be made into an utility for such devices. His cutting-edge paintings crosses genres, from documentary to artwork to portraiture of celebrities (consisting of female Gaga) and fashion. https://www.magnumphotos.com/photographer/alex-webb/
COMPOSITION
Christopher Anderson uses very unique camera techniques throughput all his photos. Also the wide range of photoshop edits too, for example using the liquify tool to mix primary colours and make them stand out. Making the main image of the face more clear. Probably trying to show a message through a photo to show exploding colours or trying to get loads of feelings of the model. Christopher uses a variety of skills in his photography work including making emotional connections in his photos. He quotes “a device that interfaces me with what I’m connecting to” and as “an excuse to connect and discover more about myself”. He is one of a kind as he takes his photos on a smartphone. He takes portraits and transfers them to his computer and edits them. He makes sure to use a good iPhone for high quality crystal clear photos. He uses surrounding buildings as a framing tool. Fill the Frame and he also uses the repetition of form . He used an iPhone XR with 16megapixel camera Lens so that the photo would come out as very clear, He also used the most efficient landscape framing so that there is more space for editing. I really like this which is why I chose him as one of my photographers it.
First shoot
Edit
This is my first experiment and although I tried different tools I am not satisfied with my result. I will try to use different tools next time so my photos are to a better standard
MY SECOND SHOOT
Developing My Images In Photoshop
I developed my photo in photoshop to give a realistic look if the framing was to be in a home. I used rectangles to capture 5 parts of the same image and use colour balance to give the flower a more orange. Also I used liquify to make patterns on the leaves.
MY THIRD SHOOT: location shoot in Manchester
Photopea Manipulation Framing + YouTube tutorial
As you can see I have linked my photo to Alex Webb. He tends to use a lot of saturation and contrast when making his photos. I decided to mix the idea of manipulation and framing to get an outcome where the couple are walking through the lens. I used the burn tool to help with making a darker tone to the photo. Then I used a dodge tool to make the lens brighter. The tutorial I watched was quick and easy to learn .
Geometric/ Sphere Shapes
Here I have used a illusion of a sphere. Using clipping masks I made two copies of the background. I made a sphere shape and but it in between the two copies of the background. Then I flipped the image vertically for a more cool look. Overall I am happy with this outcome
